McAfee help

this question is more for my mother than me.

she is running windows 8.1 on her laptop.

i think it came with McAfee.

McAfee said it detected a trojan, then asked her to reboot for a pre system startup scan.

she says aside from it taking forever it is just sitting there with a grey screen nothing else.

she tried rebooting and the scan just starts again automatically and then eventually goes to that grey screen.

any ideas on how to stop it from doing that pre system startup scan.

As this is on about McAfee, I have a compulsory post I must make.

 

 

But I would honestly uninstall it, (Maybe not using the same advice as in the video above) and then install something like AVG or Avast!

turn it off, and unplug it for 10 mins, after that hold down the delete button and boot in safe mode, then restart, it should wipe any trojan or virus if it was behind the gray screen.
