Hi LTT!

I recently came across a guy who's selling his R9 280x for $125 online. I'm sure this is a killer deal, as PCPP says the lowest 280x goes for about $220. but I'm curious about:

-Performance overall: I'm looking to play some BF4, BF:Hardline, World of Tanks, Blacklight: Retribution, and CoD at 1080p to start and go from there. Would this card play those games well?

-Power consumption: I'm planning to put in a 500w psu. Should I go bigger?

-Should I jump on this ASAP?

Thanks guys!

Signature unda construction... in the meantime. Tell me more about yourself. I'm sure you've got an interesting story.

At 1080p, it will max those games out or get very close to doing it. The PSU is fine depending on which one it is and the rest of your system, and the price is very good as well.

It'll most likely be fine. At 1080p, a 280X will be plenty for the latest AAA titles. As for PSU it would most likely work. Someone on the forum had a 280 non-X running off a Thermaltake TR2 500W (mediocre PSU) for a year or so with no issues

If it's that cheap though make sure to ask whether the card was used for gaming or mining.

I had a GTX 770 running off of an Antec VP450 with an overclocked 2500K, so I'm sure he will be fine.

I bought an MSI 280X a while ago, $150 Australian. They are very capable of running the Battlefield series on Ultra at 1080P. I'm not sure if a 500 Watt PSU is enough, but my 850 is happy running two of them. I wouldn't overclock anything, but my guess would be that it would run fine.

Well VP450 is better built then TR2-500, and 770 uses less power then 280 :P But yeah most likely OP will be fine, unless he's using a Diablotek or something
