Cleaning old HDD

Go to solution Solved by KamiKatze,

Do i need to do quick format it. someone said that when i will be installing windows on it it will format it it self and change letter from M which i have now to C

Yes that's whats going to happen. The windows installation usually wipes the drive, or at least marks it as empty and writes over it. :P It will be a virtually clean drive afterwards.

@avto

I guess you're installing windows on it? In this case you can just quick format it in the Windows setup.

If you really want to wipe out the data on the drive, I'd recommend the wiping tool from CCleaner. 1x should be sufficient. But for a regular windows installation, this isn't necessary.

who cares...

Hi @avto!

There's no need to clean it before the OS installation - you can simply reformat the drive and use it as your boot HDD.

Cheers! :)
