So I got the CM Storm Devastator Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo for christmas, and it was a great keyboard except for one problem. Every now and then the keyboard would freeze. One time I was pressing the A key to go left and my keyboard froze, so I kept going left even when I was not pressing A. Not only that, but none of the other keys on my keyboard responded, so I couldn't exit out of the game and I had to restart my computer to get my keyboard to work again. I contacted customer support and they told me to reinstall the drivers. When reinstalling the drivers didn't work, I returned the keyboard and mouse and bought the Perixx PX-1100 Backlit Keyboard and the ZhiZhu Gaming Mouse, but I'm still getting these random freezes.

More Info:

1. When I unplug the keyboard after it locks up, my computer freezes.

2. It doesn't just happen in a particular game. So far it's frozen while I've been playing Garry's Mod, Team Fortress 2, GTA 4, and Mount & Blade: Warband. It also froze once when I wasn't playing a game (just had steam, skype, and google chrome open).

3. I had been using a generic keyboard (which came with my computer) before the CM Storm Devastator and for about a month between when I sent the Devastator back and got the Perixx in the mail. That keyboard never froze. Hence the title.

4. I noticed that the volume controls on the Perixx keyboard (that I have now) still work after it freezes. None of the other buttons work at that point though.

I'm wondering if I somehow reinstalled the wrong driver or if something else is causing it to freeze. I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Might be a issue with the motherboards USB headers that you have the keyboard plugged into

That wouldn't explain why my old keyboard worked just fine though.

Good point, must be the drivers that the"gaming keyboard" used. I tend to only use the Windows Generic driver or what ever installs with my keyboards and I've yet to have an issue, I'm currently using a K90.

Well, I'm also only using the windows driver and the drivers that installed when I first plugged it in, but I'm having problems...

Hmm might be an issue with the OS and the driver that installed when it was first plugged in then. Otherwise I'm not to sure about what could cause it.

Well, it's windows 7, and I doubt these gaming keyboards were made for Linux. Also, I'm pretty sure reinstalling the driver would have fixed it if that was the case. Could it be the port itself?
