Simple SSD questions

Go to solution Solved by dadasmithywinkle,

I just have 2 simple questions about ssds. How quickly do they degrade and do they get slower the fuller they are like hard drives?

Not very quickly - longer than you'd be using it.

And yes.

SSD's will degrade when you write to them, the amount of degragration depends on the type of flash the SSD uses, the SSD controller and the how many nand flash channels they have.

They can get cluttered when almost full, but it will be nothing like when a HDD is full, TRIM can help prevent this.

SSD's are getting a lot better in endurance. I just ran SSDlife or something like that on my Intel 520 that I've had for about 3 years. It's expected to last me for another 7 years. By the time an SSD will fail on you, you will have already wanted/bought a newer one with higher capacity.
