If you have the hard ware to support it it is a worthy investment. I wouldn't touch 1440p unless you have AT LEAST a R9 270, maybe a 750TI, that's about bare minimum imo.

Yes, a 27" (27" is basically the only size unless it's in a device like a ultrabook) 1440p has a PPI of about 109 so you don't have scaling issues in windows and is 2.7K so games look better. As for GPU power you'll need at least a R9 290 or GTX 970 or a card equivalent in power to play modern games adequately at high settings (60+ FPS), which is pretty much the whole point of getting a higher resolution display; not to play games at medium setting and it looking good.

I'll tell ya what's worth it, an UltraWide 3440 x 1440 display. That's definitely what I'm aiming to get with my upcoming video editing build . The one Ultrawide monitor that I'll be getting is none other than the.....
