GTX 780 does not downclock

hey man i posted about this a couple time now because it happened to my 970 its the new Geforce experience that causes it to do it just uninstall and download the latest non beta from nvidia's website 

Heyho.

 

So, a little problem occured some time ago. My temps from about 33 deegrees @Idle went straight into 42 @Idle. I was thinking that it might be the screws going loose, so I tried to screw them in further. I couldn't. Well, after some time, I've decided that I'd check on the thermal paste, however, beefore doing that, I've checked my MSI Afterburner, and this is what I saw. My GPU doesn't downlock when idling.

 

And here comes my question, what may cause it? Drivers are all up to date.

I had this problem before. I think it is Afterburner that is causing the clockspeeds to ramp up and not come down when idle. Did you restart Afterburner or reinstall it?

 

I tried it just now, didn't fix anything.

 

Do you have multiple screens?

It's actually Shadowplay that is a problem. Whenever I turn it on, my clocks jump straight to the maximum.

Also keep in mind if you have the Power Management mode set to "Prefer Maximum Performance" it will set the GPU(s) into their P2 state which means they will be locked to their base clock frequency (in simple terms) or above. Actually quite a handy tip if you're trying to get above 60fps in a title (144Hz monitor) and the API isn't calling for more performance past 60FPS leaving your GTX 980 sitting there spitting out 60fps at 400Mhz P8 state despite wanting 144.
