I'm looking for a decent, budget keyboard and mouse to pilot my home cinema machine.

Ideally it'd be a bundle just for ease but I'd also like it to be:

  • Wireless with decently long range
  • USB reciever not bluetooth
  • Quiet keys and mouse buttons
  • 60-80% sized keyboard
  • Backlit for use in the dark

Anyone got any recommendations ?

I've seen a few tiny keyboard and touchpad combos floating around ebay.

These come in heaps of different shapes and sizes too, such as controller shapes.

If you're after a full-size keyboard and mouse, I'd go for something like the Razer Turret on the high end or alternatively something like what Logitech has to offer.

The turrent seems like it could be a good solution for you. I do not think it has launched yet, but the promos seem very nice.

Logitech also has "all in one" options (TK820) with built in touch pads for ~$60.00. Those are the two I have looked at. I have been using a DiNovo Edge for the past 7 years and figure it will die one of these days. The Turrent is the leading replacement option right now for me.

I own both of those combo's, one for home and one for college. The 320 is alright, I prefer the keyboard over the 520 because the keys stand up more like a desktop keyboard than a laptop keyboard. But the mouse is too small for my liking. I prefer the mouse of the 520 though because its larger, easier to "click", rubber sides, feels more consistent when moving across screen. Neither mouse works too well unless you have a mousepad, they both struggle with hard surfaces sometimes.

Both battery lives on both keyboard and mouse last a long time for both combos.

I'm actually looking to get a different keyboard/mouse to replace my 320 combo.
