Pc freezing in 3d games

Hi whenever i try to play a 3d game like bf4 my pc always freezes with lines on screen and needs a pc restart. But when i play 2d games like TBOI or dont starve its fine. Please help

gpu,cpu,ram and psu would help to know, as well as temperatures and at what res your playing.

Is your display cable connected to the GPU? Did you build that PC on your own? If yes, than check if everything is connected properly...

It might be the gpu, get yourself something like msi afterburner and check temps, clockspeed while running the game.

Weird, looks like gpu is fine. I don't understand why it only crashes then in 3D applications in particular.

it sounds silly, but I'd format it. for me it fixed 100% of my major issues that I couldn't get the root cause of, seems like nobody else got any better idea yet, unfortunately.

Bump the voltage in increments of 0.05 and if it doesn't help if you already added 0.50mv the card is bricked.

This sounds very similar to what I have been having in 3d games. I also run a r9 280X. (see my post - will link in later). Tempratures are fine, works fine in everyday use, start gaming, and it suddenly just freezes. Can you check eventlogger to see if windows knows something goes wrong?
