Yes. The smaller they are, the faster the have to spin to move the same amount of air, thus making more noise.

So ideally you'd have one big fan moving slowly as opposed to lots of small ones moving fast.

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The larger your fans, the slower they can spin, as well as the more air they can move. Ideally, you'll want to use the largest fans you can use for your mounts in your case. If they're decent fans, you'll get much better airflow and noise levels than a smaller fan. Just know that a Corsair 120mm is going to be better than an off-brand 140mm though, so you'll want to make sure you buy quality stuff!

Not sure what type of cooling you're attempting to accomplish here but the basic point is that a larger fan diameter can create more airflow at a given fan speed or allow for a lower noise by creating the same airflow at a lower speed.  Sizing is usually based on the maximum that will fit in a space.

Yes.

Bigger is better, pushes more, harder, can go slower to get same great result, it's best to shove the biggest one you can fit in. Personally, I like putting a large penetrator in their.

A Silverstone air penetrator that is.
