HyperX cloud or Razer blackshark?

Go to solution Solved by Tim Drake,

None, gaming headphones should be avoided:)

HyperX Clouds are the only exceptions.

Take the clouds.

Hi, i am looking to buy a new headset and i can't decide between the razer blackshark or the hyperX cloud. Price doesn't matter but i care about the sound quality and mic quality. What one is the better headset all round?

If price doesn't matter there is probably better options.

Case - NZXT H6 Flow : Mobo - ASRock X670E PG Lightning : PSU - Deepcool PX1000G : CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D w/Arctic Freezer III 360  : Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32gb 6000mhz CL30 : GPU - MSI Expert 4080 Super : Storage - Verbatim Vi7000G 4tb NVME SSD  : Displays - Gigabyte 32" M32QC Curved 165hz & 27" M27Q Pro 165hz 1440p

I see you have the Hyper 212 cooler, i was thinking about. Do you get good temps?

Yes, pretty great temps up to 4.4GHz. I personally will be switching to a water cooler soon though for looks and a bit more silence :)

(Greedy I know)

IMO they are overpriced junk, cheap plastic.

You hear that from a lot of people. I own a only razer mouse, which I use for around 4 years now. Works fine, feals great, looks almost as good as new. So I can't say anything bad about that.

But for headphones: A friend has a razer headset. I believe it's the kraken... And it's mic quality is just terrible. Sounds like some generic 5-10Eur headset...The Blackshark seems to have a much better mic though. You can find some audio samples on Youtube.

The Clouds are great and if you consider the price, there is really almost no alternative. But if money is no concern you might check out the Sennheiser game one and game zero. They are really light and comfortable and the mic sounds a little better (imo). As for the sound quality: This is personal taste, I guess. I'm not an audiophile and prefer the cloud for listening to music, but both are really good.

So, I got the Cloud cause they were less than half the price.

Take it from one who had owned a Black Shark and present owner of a HX Cloud, don't ever think of getting the Black Shark. It is crap headset with aspirations of sounding like a Beats, it is about bass and nothing else.

As stated, I still have the HX Cloud and use it from time to time even though I have graduated from headsets and entry level cans to mid-tier and flagship cans. I am spoiled for choice when it comes to cans, but despite this, I still find the HX Cloud to have good quality audio. I can't comment about the mic quality as I use the Cloud more as a pair of headphones.
