Hey guys,

So my uncle has around £750 / £800 to spend on this gaming only build

He essentially wants a console size system and for it to be hidden basically whilst getting the obvious advantages of PC gaming from the comfort of his sofa :)

One thing he will need is an optical drive, this is because his internet is literally the shittest thing ever xD so is unable to download games.

I'm not sure about peripherals as he is yet to message me back but if you could include them it would be appreciated :)

I have come up with this: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Ben9902/saved/F7W6Mp

But I am such a noob :( and would love your input and suggestions

Thank you for your time :)

Lol that looks SO much better, thank you, but I was concerned about the heat issue with the 290?

Yea... about that...

You are right. It will get hot. Still, it's just that much stronger. Even if you have to back off on the clocks a bit, the raw performance is just stronger.

I'm not sure he wants to tinker and play around with it that much tbh, I don't know, what do you think?

Also he's gonna be gaming on a 1080p tv so is it worth going 970?

I did not include keyboard or mouse because I didn't know how far the sofa is from the TV (which I presume is going to be the monitor). If more room is needed in the budget for these, the ssd can be dropped.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think he can go to £800 tbh so is it worth going with a 970?

It really depends on the titles he plans to play and the resolution. At 1080 the 960 does a decent job with many titles. The R9 290 would do better and might be a reasonable choice. (Contrary to many manufacturer's specs, a 500W psu should run an R9 290 without problems.) GTX 970 would be great if it can be squeezed into the budget. (You could consider going with the stock cooler to save a bit. Will make for a noisier build at load.)

Yeah I understand where your coming from, I tried the 970 in there and it came to £819 so I'll ask him tomorrow about the budget. Thanks for your help :)

If you really want to make it smaller, get the Mcase N1, but otherwise it's fine

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.
