i got a new processor, a xeon.

Now when i boot up sometimes my pc shuts down after a few seconds and then boots normally.

Then when i get into windows there is a white screen for around 20 seconds then everything loads in.

Should i do a system restore?

Are there drivers interfering or something?

I want things to be smooth, not to feel like my pc is struggling to boot

is that where you remove the battery? why will that help?

It resets everything.

What did you upgrade from to the Xeon?  Did you uninstall interfering drivers?

It was the same before and after, even when i revert the problem is still there. I've cleared the CMOS

Put the i3 back in and update BIOS to the most recent version?

you think maybe my mobo is just getting old? It is the oldest part of my computer by far

I haven't a clue, I wish I could help more.

Have you tried a fresh install of Windows and checked startup processes?

On my test bench auto starting programs (typically origin etc) cause issues when swapping CPUs for some reason.
