Hey guys, I am thinking of building a new PC and I need help on figuring out what's best/better than what I have here for the same/similar price AND clarification on whether or not this build I have here would work as it is. Thanks !

PC Case - Fractal Design Define R5 Mid Tower Case - Titanium

CPU Processor - Intel Core i7 4790K Quad Core LGA 1150 4.0GHz Unlocked CPU Processor

Motherboard - MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition LGA 1150 ATX Motherboard

Memory - Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 1866MHz Black HX318C10FBK2/16

Hard Drive(s) - WD WD20EFRX 2TB Red 3.5” IntelliPower SATA3 NAS Hard Drive

SSD - Samsung 850 EVO 120GB 2.5" SATA III SSD MZ-75E120 / Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5" SATA III SSD MZ-75E250

Power Supply - Cooler Master Vanguard 650W 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply

GPU - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4GB Video Card

Operating System - Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 64-bit

CPU Cooler - NZXT Kraken X61 Liquid CPU Cooler - RL-KRX61-01

Optical Drives - LG 16x Internal SATA Retail Blu-Ray Burner Drive BH16NS40

Extra Case Fans - Corsair Air Series AF140 Blue LED Quiet Edition Airflow 140mm Fan (x2)

QUESTIONS -

1. will the build run smoothly/compatible as it is with all the parts together or will something clash with others?

2. in relation to the rest of my build, which would work better in terms of memory ? I am choosing between Kingston hyper x OR g skill rip jaw x

3. Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5" SATA III  OR Intel 730 240GB 2.5" SATA III SSD

4. which would be the best position in the case where I mount the NZXT Kraken (will this radiator fit if I mount it at the top of the r5? ) and the 2/3 extra case fans that I will be getting (all 140mm and airflow, not static pressure)

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED (POST WHETHER OR NOT THE COMPONENTS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH EACH OTHER FOR THE BUILD TO RUN SMOOTHLY AND ANY RECOMMENDATIONS TO REPLACE WHAT I HAVE THERE ARE ALSO APPRECIATED)

P.S. DON'T WORRY ABOUT BUDGET BECAUSE I CAN FIX THAT UP LATER, BUT I AM LOOKING AT ROUGHLY THE AMOUNT THAT THIS BUILD ADDS UP TO SO IF YOU SUGGEST ANY REPLACEMENTS FOR ANY PARTS THAT MAY BE BETTER THAN WHAT I HAVE TRY TO GET ONE THAT IS SIMILAR PRICE TO WHAT I HAVE (BUT BETTER PERFORMANCE IN YOUR OPINION)

The build will work, BUT:

  1. 16gbs for gaming is useless. Stick to 8gbs. Also, go for 1600mhz CAS 9 memory, instead of what you choose.
  2. The i7-4790k really isn't needed. Stick to the i5-4690k, and use the money somewhere else (say... a second GPU)
  3. Speaking of GPU, don't get the G1 Gaming. It's not bad, but for the price, it totally isn't worth it. Go for the Asus Strix, it also has 0db feature.
  4. I really hope you have (or will buy) a 1440p monitor or 3x 1080p. If you are only going for 1080p, single GTX 970 is all you'll ever need, so you can drop the SLI mobo. If going for 4k.... well, you are looking straight for SLI 980.
  5. Last, the CPU cooler. Get the Raijintek Triton instead. One of the best performers, also looks super awesome with virtually limitless customization, as well a low price.

So for the 1600mhz memory, should I get :

Corsair Vengeance Pro Black CMY8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 / CAS 9-9-9-24 / 1.65v OR

G.Skill Ripjaws-X 8GB(2x 4GB) Memory Kit - 240pin / CAS 8-8-8-24-2N / 1.5v OR

G.SKILL RipjawsX 8GB (2x4GB) / CAS 9-9-9-24-2N / 1.5v OR

Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB (2x 4GB) / CAS 10-10-10

Either 1, 2, or 3. The cheapest. Or, you can also pay a bit more for one that matches your build color.

So there is little to no difference between 9cl and 8cl for 1600mhz memories ? So obviously getting the 8 would be better then ? because I heard most people get 9cl on 1600mhz but im not sure.

And another question, I am sticking with just a single GTX 970 for now, and probably SLI in the near future so having the SLI mobo there would come in handy so I might keep that (I HAVE NOW UPGRADED THE MOTHERBOARD FROM Z97S KRAIT TO EITHER A GIGABYTE Z97X UD5H OR MSI Z97 GAMING 7 OR ASROCK Z97 EXTREME 6 OR GIGABYTE Z97X GAMING 7 ) your opinion on that please ?

And with a single GTX 970, which monitor would work best ? 1080p 144hz or 1440p 60hz ? FYI, I do play FPS but not high end ones (maxing out on games similar to CS:GO), mainly play RPGs and games like assassins creed, dying light, far cry 4 etc.

Thanks !

Yes, getting 1600 CAS 8 is better, if it doesn't cost much more. I'd pay 5$ max for it, anything above that and I find un-worthy.

it's close to $10 extra for CAS 8. and I edited the above post so if you could give your opinion on the other questions too it would be great, thanks !
