This is my planned build that I am currently working on, I have a NZXT H440 at the moment and plan to use my Asus VG248QE as the monitor, but I was told by some people that I may want to get a different power supply/motherboard, can someone please look into this for me.

The system is a bit unbalanced for my taste, the NH D15 may be in the way of the GPU (pls check that) also 120Gb for a system like this is not enough otherwise its a solid build

CPU: Xeon 1230v3 - GPU: GTX 770  - SSD: 120GB 840 Evo - HDD: WD Blue 1TB - RAM: Ballistix 8GB - Case: CM N400 - PSU: CX 600M - Cooling: Cooler Master 212 Evo

Update Plans: Mini ITX this bitch

Motherboard is fine. PSU is one of the best available, not sure who told you to get a different one.

$135 for a disk drive? I would definitely remove that.

Maybe go for a AIO cooler for the CPU. The NH-D15 is very big.

^This. I had to put my GPU in the second slot just because i was afraid the NH-D14 would touch the back and short it out...

Get rid of the optical drive. If you really need one, you can get them for like $12.

The SSD is a solid option, but I would go for something a bit bigger. Also, you don't need to go all the way for an Intel. Crucial's MX100 is every bit as solid, and you'll save a little bit as well.

if it's just your OS you want on it, 128GB should be fine, to be honest.

Instead of the Noctua, grab a liquid cooler like a Nepton 240M or an H105. It won't get in the way of your graphics cards and RAM like the Noctua may well do (the noctua is a huge, chunky air cooler, it takes up a lot of space) and in any case an AIO is better for more unobstructed airflow.

If this is for gaming, I would go with an i5-4690K, but that's just me. If you're doing other things that need the extra threads, the i7 is good to have. (Just in case you weren't in the know, all you get from an i7 over an i5 is hyperthreading, which will probably give you a 30-40% increase in heavily multithreaded applications. The physical processors are identical.)

You can save some pennies for now and stick with 8GB of RAM. That's all you'll need for even the heaviest of games. though there's nothing wrong with 16GB if you want it :D

Other than that, looks to be a kickass build you're going for there! Have fun!

If you get an AIO cpu cooler there is pretty much no chance of it messing up... Also normally has better temps.

As for CD drive, H440 has no external bays to hold it I don't think... Also so expensive.

You can get Seagate Barracuda 2TB, same specs and all for half the price...

Maybe get a Samsung 850 or 840 EVO 250 GB as they aren't that expensive.

Not a big fan of water cooling, really scared i will fuck something up

Don't worry about it. AIO water coolers are about as easy to install as any other cooler. You bolt the water block to the CPU socket, attach the fans and radiator to the bracket at the top with screws and you plug the fans and pump into the motherboard. In some ways, it's easier than air coolers. And there's no maintenance, mostly. It's completely different from custom loop water cooling and it has nearly the same performance as a basic custom loop, depending on the size of your radiator.

Dont i have to change the water in the system every now and then?

Okay then, ill go with that, the NH D15 looks really ugly anyway

I would say go for a 240mm model like the Cooler Master Nepton 240M or the Corsair H105. NZXT does some good ones too.

Price-to-performance. I've gotten my i7-2600K to 5GHz no problem on mine. They're awesome.

Why give me an 750 watt power supply when the build is less than 400 watts...

The EVGA G2 is arguably the best psu value at the moment. It is a touch larger than needed for a GTX 970 SLI build but pricing is good and quality is excellent.

Nothing wrong with the motherboard. Personally I am partial to Asus. I like their BIOS and utilities. Asus Z97-A would be a decent alternative to the MSI Z97 Krait.

You might consider a less expensive BluRay burner, LG BH16NS40.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
