Hey guys, so I made a thread a couple hours ago referring to a silent build, I did some tweaks and edits and the final version is this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JKYJ23

Tell me what you guys think, this is kindof an affordable ish rig for me, I'm open to some changes and suggestions, (no flame please). Have a good day!

EDIT: The PSU is 750 watt because when I get the money I'm going to add a second GPU. My bad

I'd recommend that you go with some SeaSonic X series PSU or another hybrid fan PSU and instead of the R5, perhaps a Be Quiet! Silent Base 800. The 800 has better silencing foam.

Hm, I'll look around for the PSU.. But the Silent base 800 is almost $150, little out of the price range for it to be affordable.

I guess the price jumped, I feel like it was just around the price of an R5 a few days (or weeks) ago.

Oh on NCIX US they might/did/do have/had it for $119 but it seems that they direct me to a lovely 503 error code when you inquire about that case on their US site.

You might actually want to go for an overkill hybrid PSU as it will be able to stay in passive load for longer.

If it's the foam is the same stuff they sell as standalone noise dampening material, then I can confirm that it's good. It's actually a layer of bitumen, then a layer of foam and then a layer of fabric on top.

Hm, what about a DIY solution where I can buy some of that foam and with some adhesives put it on the r5?

You could do that if you really care about noise. It already has an adhesive layer, but it's quite difficult to cut through, and you'd have to peel off the foam that comes in the stock case. The first layer is actually bituminous paperboard (yup, I looked it up just for you) and it's main role is to stop the metal from resonating. If you properly isolate all vibrating parts, then it shouldn't really be that much of an issue to just leave the original foam in the case.

The cpu cooler is an odd choice. Given the case you could go with the Hyper 212 EVO.

XFX P1-750B-BEFX is a better psu that features hybrid fan control. It can run fanless at lower draws.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Hyper 212 evo runs at above 30 decibels.. this runs at 17, don't really see how its odd but ok.

Hmm ok, thank you very much for your help :)
