Windows 7 Ultimate AMD to Intel Switch.

Go to solution Solved by HellerTech,

Guess I'll just update to Windows 8.1. Thanks for the helps guys/ladies/(etc) :P ---Heller

I'm switching from my AMD processor to an I5. Will I be able to simply plug and play or will i need to entirely format my hard drive? Also I'm trying to decide whether I want to install Windows 7 Ultimate again or update to 8.1. I personally somewhat like the 8.1 UI but is there any issues that are caused by games or anything? Also, can you make Skype just run in normal desktop mode and not a tile mode? TY --- Heller

You won't have to reinstall windows, you will just have to reactivate it.

With 8.1 you can download skype from their website and use that instead of the one from the windows store, and it will work the same as on windows 7. (The windows store one is the tile version)

windows might freak out that you changed mobos and cpu's, so you may have to reactivate...

Windows tends to run into problems when you switch mobos so you should probably just reinstall or upgrade to 8.1

There are no major problems or issues with games

You can download desktop skype

I had issues just switching from different architecture AMD processors. Stability was a major issue, and I ran into some other issues. I didn't end up having to reactivate though, which was nice. I guess my hardware ID didn't change too much.
