Hello, and thanks for reading this already!

I'm looking for a good GPU by Nvidia, but I'm not sure which one to pick.

I will be gaming at 1920*1080 and eventually be using 3 screen surround, so I need 3 displayports too.

Any manufacturer will do, as long as it has a 0db mode (it's a silence oriented case :P)

Thanks in advance!

Why NVIDIA?

I'd recommend the GTX 980 in that case. The Asus STRIX one has a silent mode.

GTX 970 is decent, 980 is better though.

Not sure about 980s with 0db mode and 3 DP outputs. (I'm pretty sure you don't have to use DP for all 3 monitors if doing surround, and the 970 and 980 support up to 4 displays plugged in directly.

All geforce GPUs basically have the 0db feature now, you can set it up im msi afterburner. A 970 or a 980 would be good; a 980 is better if you plan to upgrade it more in the future. Another option is a sapphire 290 vapor-x, but you said you only wanted an nvidia card.

Why NVIDIA?

Because AMD cards give off lots of heat, which requires fans to be spinning faster to cool, which means more noise.

That or maybe they just like Nvidia.

If you really need triple DP go for a gtx 970. Don't even consider a 980, it's horridly overpriced. If you wanted to spend so much on a gpu you should get an R9 295X2, has all the DP you want and will wipe the floor with a 980 in terms of performance.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

My 970 G1 Gaming only goes down to 34% fan speed in MSI Afterburner. (Does it require a bios update for the 970 to work?)

I should mention that MSI afterburner can't set a 0db feature with a Gigabyte card.

@Biferony @Speedbird @TheKDub , I prefer Nvidia for the stable drivers, Nvidia Shield and Grid, Geforce Experience and the general good experience even with the bad gt 525m I use right now :P

@Face2Face , My budget is all means necessary :P It is a Z97 build though, not X99. So I'm not gonna go Octa core i7 extreme edition and triple watercooled Titans :P.

Personally I would buy a GTX 970 or R9 290 to hold me over until Big Maxwell and the R9 390/80's series are released.

I'd buy a 970 or 980 and keep it even after the r9 300 series are released as they will most likely kick out shitloads of heat, and have noisier coolers.

The problem with the 970 is @Sauron @Face2Face @TheKDub @Biferony, is that the only 970 to have triple DP is the EVGA one, and it is also the loudest of all the 970's (even with 0db mode), and high coilwhine issues. This is why I was looking to maybe get dual sli 960's of MSI, or just one 980 (They do have 3DP, don't know why)

Also, do you guys think the price of the 900's will drop after the R9 300 release?

My 970 G1 Gaming has 3 DP outputs, along with 1 HDMI, 1 DL DVI-I, and 1 DL DVI-D.

Yeah, but their fans always stay above 35db (my pc should be staying under 20 when not needed), otherwise I would've jumped the Gigabyte :P

Well, I can say that the g1 gaming at idle is very quiet, you can still hear the fans, though they are not really loud enough to annoy me.

If you can afford it, get an R9 295x2. Again, avoid the 980. I do think the prices will drop, waiting is never a bad idea if you can.

No doubt it will put out heat with a TDP of 300w, but I doubt AMD will make the same mistake again with the cooler. Them using an AIO is highly likely.
