Hi. This would be my second build, the first being an AMD based mid-grade rig back in 2009. I've stepped up in 2015 with a $2000 budget. I'm looking to build a future-proof rig that would be ready for 4K when the price goes down in the coming years. Just would like some community opinions, and in case I had missed an incompatibility.

Intel 4790k /w Corsair H105 cooling

ASRock Z97X Killer LGA1150 motherboard

Kingston Fury Red 1866 mhz 16gb (4x4gb)

Intel 730 240gb SSD

Seagate Barracuda 1TB,

XFX R9 295x2,

CM Storm Stryker,

Fractal Design Newton R3, 1000w

Win8

I already have purchased the case, motherboard, and processor. I'm going for a white-red scheme and I plan to install LEDs once it's finished.

Sorry, but at the rate that technology is advancing, you can never guarantee that a build will be "future proof"

I would also wait for the AMD 300 series of GPU's since they are right around the corner

Since you've already purchased the case, MoBo, and CPU, I suggest getting a single R9 290 while you are still using a single 1080p screen. No current GPU setup, even counting SLI/XFire setups, can reliably keep a healthy minimum of 60 FPS in demanding games at 4k. You might see that capability when the R9 300 series comes out, but I doubt it. The single R9 290 isn't too expensive and can still max games out at 1080p, so you wont feel bad about replacing it when you eventually do move to a 4k monitor and GPU setup.
