so i just built a tiny pc for my uncle, i had a gpu laying around and plugged it in. im using a TV as a monitor but the gpu didnt display anything out, there is not OS installed or anything. i cant see the normal mobo startup screen or anything, the tv says that it has no video signal. so i took the gpu out and since im running a AMD A10, i plugged the HDMI cable into the mobo itself and tried it again, but its the same problem. how can i fix this, its not like the mobo is dead or anything all the fans and cpu cooler all work.

here are my specific parts...

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

Sounds like you need drivers for the HDMI but I could be wrong.

Getting and POST Codes by chance?

theres no post lcd on the mobo, the TV doesnt take DVI so i gotta go dig around for a VGA cable.

Negative for visual ones; I am talking about traditional 1 Beep good, then the rest the manual says what they indicate.  Do you even get a single beep on startup?

i guess so, usually a mobo detects it right away and changes it accordingly, ive never installed a hdmi driver, i guess i gotta go look for a VGA cable becauses TV's are butt.

I had an issue that manifested itself like this, ended up being the mobo bios was out of date.

Can you try it with a different cable? (i.e. not HDMI but something more standard?)

So you hear nothing when you boot; or did you test the speaker on another machine or?

my asus board didnt come with a speaker or the cases that i bought, i did plug in the speaker both ways into the baord and it didnt beep, so i thought that its not that important and just left it out.

Right; consult the manual to get the correct polarity; that is critical for beep codes or the post beep at startup to diagnose this machine.

Usually when you don't have drivers installed or anything, you want to plug the display in via VGA (which is what it is probably outputting a signal to).  That worked with my Asus Maximus VII Hero.

Main Rig:

Server:

FX 8350 @ 4.0GHz w/ stock cooler - 8GB Crucial 1600MHz RAM - AMD Radeon HD 7450 GPU - 300W PSU - 120GB SSD - Windows 7

@Tocsin_786 Beep codes can be really helpful. If you can get the speaker working it might help?

It doesn't have a DVI plug on the back of the computer on the motherboard?

It also doesn't POST code if the BIOS is out of date.

There are only two wires to a speaker.  The SPEAKER, and COMMON.  A speaker with one wire going to each of those will work.

Okay. It's just easier to reduce the problem down to the most basic components but if you need the GPU installed for the cable I guess that's just how it's got to be.

It's not impossible to get it working without the beep codes it just makes it easier to figure out what the problem is and whether it can be solved.

i opened up the case and the cpu fan just kept stopping. i thought some wires were obstructing it, so i cleared the wires out and now my system just wont start. im gonna take everything out and route the wires correctly, i dont think the cpu burnt out because the case is so small that i have a 80mm fan thats just shoving air right into the heatsinks

Also, if it's a newer CPU hopefully it would have throttled itself and booting isn't very demanding. I've had times when my pump cable's got unplugged when I've just been looking at forums and it's been okay. Hopefully it should be okay.

Thing is it's late where I am and I have to get some sleep so I'm going to have to log off. :0/

But good luck with it. I should be on the forum again tomorrow so if it's still giving you problems I might be able to help then?

this was probably the worst build experiance, linus was right. the Cooler Master Elite 110 is a tough case to build in, when i went to present to my uncle that im finally done building in it, he thought i bought him a heater cuz it looked like one :P
