I'm looking at putting together a mitx computer with a blower style gpu for gaming, would you go with a 780ti for about $425 or a 980 for about $575. I'm only looking for ones with the reference titan cooler, and I'm using pcpartpicker for the lowest 980 price and ebay's sold listings for an estimated price on a new 780ti with a titan cooler

980=more efficient, less heat, better overall

performance is the same tho

personally if I had the money I would go with a 980

My life is consumed by CS:GO, even though I'm not exceptionally good at it.

You didn´t point out the resolution you want to go with. Generally I´d always go with the newer card because of the better driver support. But for 1080p a GTX780Ti is fine. For more I´d go with the GTX980.

You can get a used reference 780ti for less than 300. You would save a lot of money and have similar performance. Although the argument for Maxwell's efficiency is very valid.

where are you seeing those prices? The last used reference 780ti cards sold on ebay went for $410 $395 $375 $415 and $402. If those card really are out there for under $300 I'd be all over that

That's because I haven't decided. I'm probably going to go with a gsync display but I need to do more research on them before deciding on one. It will be either 1080 or 1440 though

For 1440p I´d go with a GTX980 die to the 4GB VRAM and more modern architecture.

I see them a lot on my local Craigslist, usually at 300 but sometimes at like 280. I assumed this was normal.
