Hi

For the past year or two that ive been using this laptop, ive had to listen to an awfull, very technologically/electronic sounding "Crrrrrrrrrr" coming from my CPU, and a near stutter from my one ram module, i took out the ram module and the noise nearly stopped, except for the CPU. The laptop boots up fine, runs games, runs idle, the works, but the CPU is going nuts. I have not OC'ed anything nor made any attempts either. Anyone know why both these things are making awful awful noises?

I have never had a CPU make awful noises before. You sure it isnt the HDD?

You can't be serious.  Hyperthreading is a market joke?

Is it the CPU heat sink?

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

You sure it isn't the CPU heat sink? I don't think that CPUs can make any sort of noise at all.

Yep.. They kinda just sit there like they're asleep, with a blanket of thermal compound and a fat heatsink

Laptop has an SSD in it

Is it the CPU heat sink?

No idea, the heat sink is screwed into place, replaced thermal paste on it about 3 months ago too

Does your heatsink have fans on it? Also, do you have spare parts to test? Perhaps get a spare RAM and hard drive from a friend and test it?

None of my friends in my area have the ram my laptop takes, i really doubt its the SSD, but i have like 3 HDD's to test with if thats really necessary, but i dont hear anything from the SSD. The heatsink of the laptop does have only an extractor fan but nothing more than that on it.
