IPS vs. PLS

Hi,

I'm about buy a 27" monitor preferably Samsung but I'm openminded. I'll use it for gaming, and watching movies from about 3 meters of distance from my bed, which is lower than the monitor on my desk, so viewing angles and colors are imporant. The question is: IPS or PLS?

Why samsung? LG and such have great monitors as well? And what about an ultrawide monitor? IPS and PLS is the same

Samsung is retarded like that. They also decided to call their OLEDs - "AMOLED" instead, but there is zero difference.

Maybe consider a 21:9? It would be more enjoyable for gaming and movies will be fullscreen. However 29" sounds like is going to be 2small4you. And the cheapest 34" ones are 500$.

You could go with a 29" one... youd still see a bigger movie picture than on a 27" 16:9

 

in fact the upcoming LG 29um67 will contain freesync and is supposed to cost as much as the cheapest 29"ers now.

I would definitely do this. a 29" ultra wide is closer to a 32" 16:9 display and they are going for around 350-400. I personally have an ultra wide and love it.
