so I built a nice little APU setup with the a10 5800k (OC'd to 4.3 gHz using ASUS auto tuner)

and I've been seeing while playing (yes fairly demanding games) the temp go up to 72c max...

(yeah I do realize demanding games will make a lot more heat AND its a cpu and an i-GPU running at once)...

I'm never quite sure if the temperature reading apps are picking up the correct numbers anyway as coretemp and pcmeter jump between saying the CPU temp goes from 5c to 70c in a matter of seconds...

the only thing that /seems/ to work right is the AI suite temp reader that came with my ASUS board..

my main question would be though, if it IS right (AI suite temp meter) and it goes to 70c while playing games is that normal/a fine temp for the 5800k?

I don't see any FPS drops at all nor any crashes/restarts randomly happen.

am not worried just felt I should ask the question since I'm fairly new with AMD chips.

my setup:

ASUS a88xm-plus/CSM

Artic freezer 7 pro r2

8gb of 1600mHz crucial memory

1tb WD blue

etc.

I do plan on buying a dedicated GPU some time, but wanted to keep it not so pricey for now.

thanks.

According to AMD it's a normal temp the max is 74 see specs here:

The temps on these FM2 chips are dificult to read as the sensor is crap. As long as your case doesn't feel like a furnace you should be fine.

yeah I was just looking into if the sensors were bad or not.. seems silly not putting thermometers on the chip itself..

sets my mind at east at least..

and yeah my case has a pretty good air-flow.

I'll look at HWiNFO and see what its saying (thanks @ Kc7vwc)

in all honesty.. even if i put my hand right next to it (a fan or the cpu cooler) it really doesn't feel like its that hot anyway, not sure if you'd be able to tell or not... just sayin
