Hey guys

So I built my first computer about two months ago and installed widows 8, which I then upgraded to 8.1. It was my first time installing Windows (previously only installed Linux) but I managed. I installed all the Drivers for my mobo and everything else. However I am having wicked instability.

It seems every time I use my computer at one point or another I will need to deal with a lockup or BSOD. Also applications are really crash prone. With often multiple crashes before I can use the app again. I also very frequently get "Aw Snap" messages in chrome.

I actually have had 2 bsods while trying to write this up.

I get multiple different types of BSODs including:
  • PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, 0x00000050, Caused by: disk.sys
  • SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, 0x0000003b, Caused by: dxgmms1.sys
  • BAD_POOL_HEADER, 0x00000019, Caused by: NFC_Driver.sys
  • IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, 0x0000000a, Caused by: ntsokrnl.exe
  • DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, 0x000000d1, Caused by: tcpip.sys
  • KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, 0x0000001e, Caused by: dxgkrnl.sys
  • And others

I will upload the mini dump file asap.

I've looked around for the answers but nothings seems applicable in my case. I've tried both Memtest 86 and the Windows memory checker with 0 faults. I used the Intel processor checker tool and ran 3DMark looking for anything graphics related.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my build:

1st error: check your page file. reset it make sure its system recommended size

2nd error: this is a direct X error. update that and your GPU drivers. can also be caused by bad memory

3rd error: this is a ram error. also check your page file for this

4th error: Another memory error

5th error: GPU related error

6th error windows kernal error. has to do with the GPU

I'm thinking your memory or page file is bad. Make sure your page file is set to system managed, then go into bios and make sure your memory settings are dandy. If you notice more instability then do a system reset, completely wiping the drive and re installing windows.

I'm really thinking its your RAM, so I want you to run 8 passes on each DIMM of Memtest 86

If that fails its most likely your RAM. To support my bad RAM theory, the chrome errors. Im really thinking its your RAM

 eGPU Setup: Macbook Pro 13" 16GB DDR3 RAM, 512GB SSD, i5 3210M, GTX 980 eGPU

So many things can cause this. Like I just got a new monitor.. yeah that was it. Got 3 blue screens on one day. The last one was months ago. Installing some new software, drivers, cleaning the reg with that program that deleted things you thought you didnt need lol.

System restore? Me I was using windows 7 64. I have 3 other OS's with Mac on the same computer (different drives) I play and test. So I just reinstalled Win764...which I normally never do.. just way easier this time. Now not one blue screen so far..
