I heard form some reviewers that the flex 2 ( which uses the 810 ) throttles, but it could be a software bug.

LG said the sample chips did have over-heating issues, but it was fixed when it went into production...

and PocketNow reported that the  G Flex 2, which has the 810 chip,  did have thermal-throttling issue, but it is more likely due to the chassis design, not becoz of 810 or any over heating issue...

AnandTech has a great write-up about the Snapdragon 810’s performance, coming away with largely positive conclusions after testing the SoC on Qualcomm’s large reference hardware. But like fate, miniaturization is a cruel mistress. Within the confines of the 9.4mm-thick G Flex 2, the processor doesn’t have as much space to dissipate heat. The result is some pretty aggressive thermal throttling, which makes the phone’s software run very slowly at times. Here’s where things start to get rough.

This post suggests that the 810 might overheat as many oems are moving away from the 810

This post even shows a slump in the share price of qualcomm's stock

you should read this. which reports 810 runs cooler than 801...

yes, that's why Pocketnow stated in their review that the issue is not from the chip, but from the chassis design...

But I too can't imagine how thick the reference device is...
