Adding a front fan mount!

Ok, so. My Zalman MS800 Plus case does not come with front fan mounts which i find unusual as behind the front 3 bay covers there is a massive empty space perfect for an intake. So i decided to fit one. Now be warned, this is not the most aesthetic look in the world but it is behind the bay covers so will not be seen.

 

 

To make this I used: 4 pieces of Blue Tac

                                1 shoebox

Basically i attached blue tac between the cardboard spacers and the fan to steady it. Then underneath i cut out a piece of the cardboard and lay it down as a support. I was quite pleased with myself after doing this as i have never done case modding before.

Best of all this fan allows all of my components to run 6 degrees celcius cooler.

That would be decent but why buy that when i have a shoebox and a spare 120mm fan lying around?

Well, it depends how much noise your solution provides, plus looks like there will be lots of places for dust to enter your case.

 

With the one I linked you can use rubber pins to reduce noise and also add a filter for dust.

Its hard to see from the image but every one of those bay covers has a built in dust filter which is also used as a noise dampener. So best of both worlds

I've had to do a similar thing with my Commander MSs-I since it doesn't support a radiator. I simply removed the DVD drive (I've got an external one that was for my dead laptop) and put it in the 5.25" bays, of course the only thing holding it in place is the dent I put in the top when I had a bit of a rage attack (lost connection in the middle of a large kill streak in Halo).
