GTX770 constant FPS drops.

Hello,

 

I've been having problems with my GPU for some time. Every couple of seconds there are FPS drops. The game will run at 60fps and then drop to 20FPS for a couple of seconds, and then back to 60FPS. It's very annoying. I will include a screenshot of MSI Afterburner, so that you can see the dips. 

 

What's weird is that yesterday, I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers and installed the older ones, and there were no dips at all. I tested this while playing Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition for 10 or so minutes. I tried to play it today but the drops are back. I did change some settings in MSI Afterburner when I was testing it yesterday, but they are back to default, and I can't remember what I changed yesterday. 

 

What could be the problem?

AMD FX8350 4.4GHz

GTX770 2GB

16GB Corsai RAM

Corsair 800W PSU

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Update BIOS.

Fully uninstall display drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode, then re install another version.

When installing the drivers, don't select the 3D ones or Geforce Experience. 

Remove all overclocks (CPU and GPU)

Welcome to the forum hope you enjoy your stay, try uninstalling geforce experience and the nvidia audio drivers in control panel, that has worked for some people.

What are your temps when you get these FPS drops?

I will update the BIOS and uninstall the drivers, and report back. 

 

Also, the GPU is 64C when playing games like BF4 and Sleeping Dogs.

Hey, 

 

I have an ASUS motherboard, and was wondering if it's a good idea to update my BIOS using ASUS EZ Flash II. What's the safest option, I don't currently have a USB thumb drive.

My current BIOS version is: 18.01 Date; 11/12/13

I tried to flash the BIOS using ASUS Update, and I got a following error: Failed to verify EEPROM with new BIOS image. Please press button to try again or [EXIT] to abort.

After flashing my BIOS, the PC doesn't turn on. I mean, I can hear the fans working but nothing is displayed on the screen. I guess no PC for at least a couple of months. Great.
