One has the Z97 chipset, the other has the H97 chipset.

As a basic rule of thumb:

Z= ability to easy oc from Bios via multiplier

H= ability to oc restricted, suitable when you intend to keep the cpu at stock.

 

Also, as another rule for intel cpu's:

If the cpu ends in "K" (ex. 4690K) get a Z motherboard

If CPU end in S, T or no letter (ex. 4690S or 4690) get a H motherboard.

I've noticed that a lot of H97 mobos lack an m.2 port as well. Specifically the mATX ones.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs
