Considering changing cases..

Hi all,

 

So I've owned my C70 Vengeance for just over 6 months. I bought it simply because I'm always going to either parents or a family member for the weekend, and wanted to take my PC with me. The problem I'm having with the C70 is I think that it is way too open. There's a lot of holes everywhere on it for ventilation, and it attracts dust like hell. I dust and tidy my room on a daily basis and I still have to clean out dust filters and sometimes even my fans on the PC.

 

I was considering, eventually, upgrading to a different case, perhaps the Define R5. Would it be worth it?

As much as I loved my C70, a case change was the best thing I ever did. I went with the Air 540 and I don't regret my decision at all, but I've heard very good things about the R5.

Yeah, I was cleaning it weekly because of it. Now with the Air 540, I clean it monthly.

The Air 540 is a dust magnet, though. I'm starting to hate it enough to buy another case because I don't feel like doing a DIY-dust-proof mod.

 

Plus I want something a bit smaller.

Eh, my Air 540 is fairly good for dust.

What's your environment like? I have to dust my room and desk constantly, haha.

I had a Corsair 500R and the front mesh got so much dust on it, looked nasty. I had to clean that once a week. I then bought a 350D, and I pop out the front dust filter maybe twice a month and run it through water.

Hah, my PC sits on my desk all the time. It's NY, so it's pretty cool and moist here during the winter.

I guess my house is just dusty, because mine sits about 4 feet off the ground on a desk.

 

I mean, it's not like an ungodly amount of dust, it's just that any dust in my system bothers me. The Corsair filter on the front does a horrible job imo.

No matter which brand of case you choose, none of them are going to be 100% dust free. Of course some will allow more dust in than others, especially those with a lot of openings. To help control the dust, you can cover all openings with some type of foam filter and even add another layer of protection over your existing fan filters. Something like this would work.
