When I turn the system on, I get dr debug codes 54 and 55, which mean: (quote)

01 - 54 (except 0d), 5A- 60 Problem related to memory. Please re-install the CPU and memory then clear CMOS. If the problem still exists, please install only one memory module or try using other memory modules.

55 The Memory could not be detected. Please re-install the memory and CPU. If the problem still exists, please install only one memory module or try using other memory modules.

Has anyone had this, will I have to reinstall my CPU like it says? How bad is this error?

I haven't tried anything yet, I'm going to have to wait until later when I have more time.

Thank you.

If you take out the CPU, check the pins for any kind of dust. And if your motherboard isn't posting, then it's pretty bad.

first I would try to take out one stick of ram and see if it boots.

if not take that stick out and replace it with the other stick of ram.

if it still doesn't boot try removing the graphics card and booting off the IGP

if it still doesn't boot try removing the motherboard from the case and see if it boots while  assembled on the motherboard box.

Alright, I'll do that first before getting the CPU out, I really hope it's just memory related

The thing which worries me the most is that while I was gaming, it started making this wierd grinding noise and it froze. I switched it off and left it for a bit. Then when I turned it back on it have me those errors. Could it be a PSU fault?

Where did the noises come from?

I don't know exactly but I think they were from the machine itself cause when I switched it off they went too.

@Snickerzz it sucks doesn't it. I only bought it in January. I think this is the single flaw in building your own rig is that when it breaks it's up to you to trouble shoot and deal with it.

I have taken out on Dimm of memory and moved the other into a different slot. It posted so i put in the other Dimm in the other channel. So now it's posting as before.

Thanks a lot guys! XD
