Is Intel 730 Series still worthwhile?

Intel is having their big rebates on 730 series SSDs this weekend, and I'm thinking of getting the 480 GB version.  My biggest thing is stability.  This will be for my main desktop, and stability is important as I use it for work and I've had a lot of problems with my OCZ Vector.  I know there are faster drives out there, so what do you guys think?  are they still relevant in the market?  Is the price premium worth while for what you get?

Honestly, now that the 850 Evo is out, I would (and did) go that route.

But still very expensive for what you get.

From what I've read, their 730 drives are pretty much the only consumer SSDs that have power loss protection (based on a study of consumer drives that claim to have it, theirs was the only one to actually work)

 

I know its not a common thing, but it happened to me so now I'm paranoid about it.

Even the Samsung 850 Pro with its 10 year warranty doesn't have power loss protection.

If you need that extra reliability factor, the extra cost isn't necessarily that bad.

Yes, I have one. I love it, it's very fast. Although I got it for $180 around black friday, don't know how much they are now.

I have 2 of them in my system in raid0. Very satisfied with the performance.

It was never really worth it, it always carried a price premium. If it met your use case (high performance consistency and power protection) then it made sense. If you just need fast storage then a more budget-oriented drive makes more sense.
