I bought a new video card about two weeks ago from Best Buy (it's an EVGA GTX 970 SSC 04G-P4-3979-KB). I installed it no problems, installed drivers, did all the restarts, and then loaded up BattleField 4 to test it. The computer tried to run it in DSR, but I didnt want to play it like that so I tried to change it back to 1080p, which caused the display drivers to crash. It happened in several games that I tried to change the resolution in. After I got the resolution changed I was able to play BF4 for a few hours no problem. But then the next day, after playing for only a few minutes I got an alert that I was about to run out of memory, and I was only using 5GB of the installed 8GB of RAM. I ignored it which caused the game to close. So I thought it might be my RAM. But in several other occasions I feel like I'm not getting the proper performance out of the graphics card, with losing FPS, games crashing, and games not even being able to run in DSR without crashing. But the other problem is that I am getting random blue screens now that never happened before. So not I'm not sure it it's my graphics card, RAM, or something else. I'm at a loss and need help.

Please and thank you in advnce.

Welcome to the forums! I often get a notif from Windows while playing BF4 that offers to turn of Aero and other features because I'm using so much of my system's CPU/RAM/etc. So it may just be a normal Windows/BF4 thing. Maybe try reinstalling drivers? Is anything overclocked?

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

Uninstall the drivers and use Ccleaner to get rid of the register leftovers. re-install the drivers and make sure you check the "Do a correct Install" option at the beggining of the install process, i think this will delete all previous settings of any Nvidia card.

I hate to be the one to say it but if you've done a reinstall already and the problem remains it must be faulty hardware in some way.

What PSU do you have?

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

Partition your drive into two partitions, install windows on the other one, and see if the issue is still present in that install.
If it is, we are looking at a hardware failure of some sort.

Well I went through and cleaned up and reorganized my entire HDD today, which I did not touch when I re installed my OS. I deleted all the programs and files that I no longer use, and rebuilt some of the directories (because when I first installed my SSD, I just kinda threw programs into the HDD). So far I haven't had any problems; BattleField 4 hasn't given me a warning yet, and other games seem to be running as they should. We'll see how long this lasts.
