I just changed out my Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo for the Noctua DH-15.

I am running the Noctua DH-15 and I am getting around 15c more temp then I used to

Here is a picture of me running Handbrake, (A video compressor) and these are the temps I am getting.

http://gyazo.com/73c40c0ad302b9f0f0c6978b31df8581

Why are my temps reaching 80c? On my other cooler it maxed at around 65c.

Any advice? Also I tried overclocking beforehand and I got a blue screen, not sure what I did wrong but I was following ASUS's video exact,

Pretty sure my issue has to do with voltage? I had the voltage at 1.200 with 4.7 overclock and it would crash going into windows.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Additional Info: CPU: Intel I7-4790k, MOBO: Asus Z97-A

*Also, I installed my thermal paste correctly and placed the CPU fan correctly so I don't think the issue is there.*

What cooler are you using?

I'm an idiot. We're you having these problems before you made the switch?

Double check your thermal paste, and make sure that your mount is done correctly.  If it's none of these things, you may have a faulty cooler.

You've either put on an inch thick of thermal paste, or not mounted it correctly.

No I wasn't.

Yeah looks like I need to recheck again.

Yeah then it's most likely the thermal paste...

80 is pretty high for 1.2 imo. I also wouldn't expect an average 4790k to hit 4.7GHz at 1.2V, unless you win the silcon lottery you're looking at 1.3-1.4V for 4.7.

As for the temps, maybe you put too much thermal paste on or your mounting was a bit off.

Well I checked and it was mounted corrrectly and the thermal paste was fine, I re positioned the fans and the heatsink and I am getting better temps now, but I am very disappointed as they aren't much of an improvement from my Hyper Evo 212 which is like $70 less.....

Idk, I got my 4790k to 4.7ghz on 1.210v.. 1.264v*.. coulda sworn it was 1.210 but..

And what temps they would be? D15 is high end cooler which benefits come when overclocking or running at high usage. As user of U14S, I get 68C max temp under stress test. Handbrake does about 64C. You should get temps around that range, 60-68C.

Well my temps are sitting around 79-82c on handbrake and 85c while stress testing.

What speed are fans running? Since those would be the next thing after better mount.

Well I think that is the problem. Im AI Suite 3, it says that my fans run around 1300 rpm but in hw monitor it says they run around 800rpm I went into bios and set the fan speed to full speed and couldn't tell the difference in fan speeds so, I am going to send in both the fans for RMA.
