So by the end of this month i will have saved up enough money to buy my First Gaming PC. I have been researching for a while now so i know how much i have roughly needed to save up for and i figured out that $1400-$1600 AUD would be the right sort of amount to spend. So here is my build:

basically i want it to as close as possibly max out most games (forget stupid un-optimised crap like AC:Unity etc.) on my 1080p 60Hz monitor which i already own. basically is there anything i should up/downgrade to optimise this need. the reason theres no SSD is because *apparently they are going to have a price drop in the year and i will be happy enough waiting till then and i don't see it as an immediate must-have.  I am also slightly OCD so if you change anything make sure it wont kill the colour scheme and if it does find matching things for it (sorry lol, just how i like it to be)

cheers for reading and hope you can help (: (:

@C0LL0SS0S theres only 1 in that colour scheme for only 4$ less... Australia's ridiculous pricing... if you could find one that is cheaper i would be greatful, but it would have to be available to Aus, thats the thing cheers tho :)

ps this seems to be a good SSD to get. can you confirm?

Dang, that's a pretty nice build.

Here are my thoughts:

  • Get a cheeper PSU. Something like the EVGA G2 750W is around $100 USD and is the best 750W PSU around. Not only is it cheaper than the one you're planning but it has more wattage too meaning there is room for upgrades
  • CPU - good plan for a build you're doing.
  • Motherboard - There are cheaper motherboards out there which have the same abilities, maybe order one from another country as Aussie prices are quite expensive compared to other countries
  • CPU cooler - can use money saved on mobo and PSU possibly to get a better cooler like the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro maybe.
  • GPU - you can get a bit cheaper with a different model of a 970 like the Gigabyte G1 which is meant to overclock like a beast and has good cooling.
  • HDD - Get a Seagate Barracuda 2TB for like 5 dollars maybe 10 dollars more. It's totally worth it as it also comes with 64MB of cache which is good.

So yeah. It seems like a good plan, but I think there are better options out there for what I've listed... Just some ways to save money or use some saved money to change parts to potentially better parts.

Good luck :)

Lawl I was thinking of the exact same MoBo but underestimated the Australian pricing ^^ here in austria it is 150 AUS $

@xSpaceSheepy1

thanks for the input but for other country buying, Australia knows that everything is cheaper so they have a ridiculously high import tax so its more expensive than here.

the 750 watt EVGA is 40$ more here but thanks either way

this will confuse you but the g1 is one of the most expensive in Australia, if it was less i would definately get it and same with the Seagate barracuda, its 35$ more than the WD one i chose.

all in all- y u do dis Australia!

thanks tho lol :)
