So I am currently a freshman in high school and Ive had this dream for a while of attending NYU, which is out of state. I wanted to go to there to computer engineering or cinematography I haven't decided yet. I currently have a 3.3 weighted GPA, but that with two AP classes, math and English. I am planning on bringing that up to at least a 3.5. I haven't taken the ACT yet but I plan to after this school year is over. I just want to know if any of you are currently attending, plan to attend or applied to go there. I just want to know if it's a good school as well as chances of getting accepted. Thanks.

Edit: I think there was an error on my transcript because I just got a letter today saying I made merit roll which is a 3.5 or higher. So still, I could bring that up.

I go to university in Canada; but I actually considered applying to NYU before I came to my senses because of how bloody expensive it is..

NYU is a really good school; but I think you'd need a higher GPA.. 3.5 is quite good but I don't think it is high enough still, they have insane admission requirements.  My issue is the campus is mostly spread downtown; so it's kind of a pita for class.

But yes, NYU is a very good school, maybe someone who goes there can say more.

Wow, those are the two majors I am about to study in! I'm not going to NYU, but I did look at it and it is amazing! Beautiful campus and the classes kinda big but still manageable. I would have applied but I just financially couldn't afford it. Check it out, see how you like it. After all, that's what matters most.

Unless I got a scholarship, my family wouldnt be able to afford. Which is why I'm trying really hard to keep my grades up and being involved in extracurriculars as well as getting my Eagle Scout soon, I'm hoping i will be able to get a good scholarship.

Well if you want to be a number you can go to nyu (never heard of it) or you can come on down to Texas A&M University were you will be part of a big family. We have one of the best computer engineering colleges and I don't know about cinematography but our visualization department in the college of architecture is renouned for students going off to work for companies such as Pixar. We are one of the most friendliest universities and we rank second in having students the most prepared for their career after university.
