So I'm not exactly sure what this chip is, though what I do know is that it's on a Samsung AMD FS1r2 mobo and the current socketed CPU is an AMD A8 4500M and that it on the reverse side of the CPU socket. (The bigger one.)

 

Edit: I noticed the AMD logo but what is it for?

Looks like an AMD onboard graphics chipset

 

That might be the south bridge. A lot of laptops use the metal backing of the keyboard as a sort of heatsink for those.

 That would make the most sense because I don't know why Samsung would use an APU and then put an onboard GPU. 

If I had rubbing alcohol to remove the residue left from the thermal pad then it might be more easy to identify it.

 I hate to bring back a thread that went into obscurity but I eventually was able to see the writing on the chip and also matching other chips like it to indicate that that is the FCH.  (Basically it's southbridge/chipset)
