Hello.

I'm thinking about getting into Android development (custom ROMs and recoveries, that sort of thing) and I've been thinking about getting a second phone for this, because I want my daily driver (an HTC One M8) to be functional while I'm developing a ROM. This will also be a backup phone, in case I brick my M8. I have been looking into Nexus devices, especially the Nexus 4, as I have heard that they're the easiest to develop for. Does anybody have other suggestions? My budget is 200 euros, and I am willing to buy used.

Any unlocked phone with new version of android supported will do fine.

Moto G? They're unlocked. Nexus 4 is quite similar, but I doubt you'll find a new one anywhere.

I don't mind buying second-hand. But I'll have to look into the Moto G. Hmm, I wonder if posting a thread on the XDA-Developers Moto G subforum asking them to convince me to buy it over the Nexus 4 is a good idea :P

I have heard that MediaTek devices are harder to work with

The Asus Zenfone 2 when it comes out would be nice. 200 off contract unlocked. Nice phone too.

Yeah... It's gonna take another 3 months to come to my country, unfortunately.

HTC HD2 its old but damn can you install every phone os on it apart from obvious few

Looked it up, was disappointed by specs. 512MB RAM and Snapdragon S1 is way too old. I have owned an S1 phone and it was slow as poop.
