So im looking to do a little upgrading so that I can play games while streaming and keep good FPS. Currently I have an i5-3570k with a gtx 660ti card and 8GB of ram. Certain games, especially MMOs, get between 20-60 FPS (depending on how much is happening on the screen) and I occasionally get some screen tear and graphical hiccups. Since im streaming and gaming at the same time, on the same rig, I figured thats why im have this type of performance. Would it be better to upgrade the cpu to an i7-3770k or upgrade the graphics card to a gtx 970? Thanks in advance for any help.

Upgrading to a 3770K would be pointless unless you have a use for the additional threads and cache. The 3570K will easily handle a GTX 970.

Hello man, your CPU is very good, the only reason to upgrade to an i7 was if you were doing streams, video edit and heavy work wich need hyper threading.

Upgrade your GPU to an 970! i love mine.  ;)

the i7 has more cache than a i5 so even in single threaded applications the i7 would outperform the i5 by a small margin.

I thought that because I was streaming from the same computer that im gaming, it was extremely straining on the CPU, which would justify the upgrade. I figured upgrading to a stronger processer would relieve some of the strain on the i5, which would make the stream run smoother and more importantly, make the game run better too. Is streaming gameplay not that big of a task for the computer for me to worry about it?

Set the affinities for the programs to different cpu cores. For any game fewer more powerful cores are better than more less powerful cores. With this said if you deticate one core to the game, and the others to the most demaning tasks at the time (your streaming software for example) it should theoretically boost your fps and performance. Also, money into gpu.
