Help on air cooling (CPU)!

Hi!

Been a long time lurker but I just decided to ask here as I have a doubt regarding a cooler for my CPU. I have the 4690k with stock cooler atm and I just wanted to play with it a little bit (OC) :D

I have been searching for some budget coolers and I came up with these: Raijintek Themis and the Cryorig H7. I was going for the Themis, as it outperforms the Evo 212 but now with the H7 brought back the confusion.

I shall refer that I need such "small" cooler because my case is the Corsair Spec 02 and doesn't have a massive space for cooler height.

Thanks in advance!

Wow, thanks for the quick replies!

Yeah, I may end up going the H7, just gotta find it. And I'm aware of that Reece, it won't be nothing too extreme though. I should have checked for this before buying the case, shame on me.

I also have a spare Thermalright TY-140 (got one in the case too) that I got from a friend and I think that maybe I could fit it in the cooler. Is this a good idea?

i would use the stock fan to start with and see how that works. if it louder and the ty 140 will fit then you could use that instead.

The TY-140 would be great if you can fit it.

Maybe I can fit both, one as blow and one as push?

It's called push/pull and you can probably do that especially if you have the TY-140 pulling from the side without the ram.

Yes, push/pull, sorry, don't know why I wrote blow, lol.

Yeah, I'll try the different configs. Maybe I can put both TY-140 on the cooler and the stock cooler one in the front of the case.

Btw, i bought a PWM Y splitter but one end only has 3 pins. If I stand correct, one will be using the PWM feature but the one with the 3pin will be always working at full speed? Is this correct?

Pwm is used with 4pin connectors. You should be able to control the fan speeds depending on the motherboard if you connect them to it.

This one is a "bit" more expensive but is it worth the price difference?

It depends on how much more expensive it is. There's been no mention of pricing.

That Thermalright is 40-45€. The H7 is around 30€, I think as it is not in stores yet.

Sorry for the late reply--the thread was buried under some tabs in my phone.

The H7 is the better value if you can wait for it to go on sale.

The cooler finally arrived in my country for a price of 37€. Now there's something, i may have a deal of a second hand Noctua NHU12P with the socket 1150 adapter for 25€. Is it worth over the H7?

The u12p performs a bit worse but is quieter--up to you what is most important.
