This is a noon question but I still want to ask that if I wanna install Linux on my amd FX 8320 with some mobo without GPU ..will it show anything on screen ?? Or do I need GPU to plug in first in one of the PCI slot to make my monitor work . since I wanna use Linux on amd with KVM n I don't wanna spend on GPU cards.

No. The FX 8320 doesn't have Onboard graphics.

If your motherboard has video out then you can use those outputs. If not, you will need a GPU card.

No. The FX 8320 doesn't have Onboard graphics.

no because it has no integrated graphics card.

That doesn't matter, because with AM3/+ boards, integrated graphics will be in the motherboard's northbridge, not the CPU. Even though the CPU doesn't have integrated graphics that does not mean that the motherboard won't.

My AM3+ motherboard has integrated (Radeon HD 4250) graphics.

Thanks guys for reply ..my confusion is solved I think . if guy like me install Linux on AMD FX 8320 without GPU but the mobo is some xyz with AM3+ SOCKET .THEN I THINK OS SHOULD BOOT AND MUST ALLOW ME TO INSTALL THS OS .

AS SOME LINUX DOES NOT DETECT UR GPU DRIVER AND IN THAT CASE WITHOUT SOME ON BOARD GRAPHICS THE MONITOR WONT SHOW A THING

Won't be able to use the FX 8320 in an Intel board. Also the newer revisions of AM3+ boards, (970, 990FX) don't support onboard graphics at all. Can see what the chipsets support here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_chipsets

IGP refers to the onboard graphics.

That being said my opinion is to just to pick up a cheap GPU. Like this.

If the mb has video ports... it's an Onboard GPU (in the MB) That's "old" tech m8s...

The CPU doesn't have iGPU, but the MB might provide onboard Graphics (in most cases in AM3+... ATI HD 3000)

Yeah but he said ''some mobo'', and i assumed he meant a cheap one, like mine :P
