Hi guys,

just a quick question, i did some overclocking on my intel I5-4690k and got these results.

i couldn't get it up to 4.7ghz  without going over 1.3 core voltage.

i run it on a MSI gaming 5 z97 motherboard.

8gb kingston hyper x fury (red)

and a h100i as cooling.

and all that in an NZXT H440 case.

ive run OCCT and Aida64 both for over an hour both, and it looks stable.

what do you guys think of my overclock (its ment as a 24/7 btw)

and is that 1.3core volt really the "safe limit"

Yeah, that's good. Same OC I'm running on my 8350

You have to remember. Any OC is a good OC

You can´t compare an i5 Haswell OC to an FX OC. If a FX black doesn´t go up to 4.6GHz I´d consider this a crappy chip.

This i5´s OC isn´t exactly brutal but 4.6GHz is a very strong running chip and seems to be stable. Nice work good job :).

I wasn't saying they were comparable as far as performance goes. Just stating that I reached the same speed.

Thanks a bunch guys,

Im just wondering about the voltage limit, to me anything over 1.3 volts doesnt sound that great.

But what do you guys think.

Im maybe able to push it to 4.7 on a little over 1.3volts.

I run a large custom water cooled loop and I can over volt up to 1.65V if I want. I run my 5960X stable with 4.7GHz @ 1.45V in benchmarks. I wouldn´t go with consumer grade over 1.35V necessarily, depending on the mainboard, PSU and of course cooling solution. But if you have a good board with enough phases good VRM design and a CPU sample that benefits from the higher voltage why not go higher ;) ?
