Windows 7 Sharing Issue

So I am trying to get my Windows 7 laptop open to sharing with my Windows 7 desktop over my home network. They are both connected to the network--one wired, one wireless--both have sharing turned on, both have password protected sharing turned off, neither have a user account that is locked with a password. I see them when I go to network and sharing under the computer tab. The problem is that I can access the desktop from the laptop but not the other way around--which is what I am trying to do in the first place. Given that they both have the password protected sharing turned off, I don't understand why it works when laptop --> desktop, but I get hit with the network password dialog box when going desktop --> laptop. I've tried every password under the sun, and it just won't work. So I need that prompt to go away--like it is when accessing the desktop through my laptop. Any ideas on this nonsense?

try logging in using full credentials (e.g username and password) from the desktop. Alternatively just change the folders that you need to access to shared folders (Right click properties, sharing) then it will come up as a shared folder and won't need a password

Maybe not the perfect "fix". But it should work just as good.

The way I normally do it, is to have a password on my PC's. And then I disable it through control userpasswords2 The first 3 pictures should be enough in Windows 7.

U could try using the windows homegroup sharing

Yeah, I got frustrated with nothing working, so I just went the more limited homegroup route; and that is fully working.
