Are there any good free RamDisk utilities?

I've used it in my system with 770's you don't need any AMD hardware to be able to use it.

wouldn't matter as it uses system RAM not GPU ram. I just happens to have the GPU brand name.

ImDisk has served me well, very lightweight and once you get it set up it's pretty out of the way in addition to auto-loading on startup and ability to save the image before shutting down.

Was under the impression you'd need to be running an AMD GPU in order to get it for free. My bad, thanks for the correction.

I noticed it doesn't have 'dynamic load and save', is that whats used to keep whatever you're working on backed up to the actual drive? 

 

Not that it really matters, since If I'm editing a picture I don't need super fast access anyway.

As far as I know the Dynamic Load and save is for shut down and boot, the files should write to disk when you shut down the ramdisk softwear(Can't test it since it won't let me download it)

Is there something else which would be slowing down the access time to a file? Even with the photos in the Ram Disk I still get frequent loading when going through pictures. The pictures are .NEF files, so could it be windows is actually whats causing the issue and not the drive the files are stored on?
