My cousin is currently running a "XFX HD 5770 1GB XXX Edition" and can play most games well but newer games (BF3 for example) can only be run on medium. BF3 is the only "GPU demanding" game he play's but he wanted to know what a good upgrade would be.

His budget is less than £200 (around £150 - £170) and i was thinking maybe a 660 or 7850 but if there's anything better, feel free to add it here.

PS: The website we will be buying from is http://www.ebuyer.com as they have free shipping and good customer service.

Edit - If it's important his board is a "ASUS M4A785T-M" and his CPU is a "AMD Phenom II X4 965"

My Build

Thanks guys. He probably wont get it until christmas, so if anything new comes out i will post this again. Also, his PSU is a "Coolermaster Elite 460W" which concerns me a bit. I had to upgrade my PSU because my pc would crash when playing high gpu demanding games on my 660ti.

Hmmm, not sure. On one hand the 7870 is better overall. But on the other hand the 650 ti Boost is compatible with his PSU and cheaper.

7870 will work with his PSU if you use a molex to PCIe adapter, but then the PSUs 12v is going to be almost maxed out(TDP of the processor is 125W, the graphicscards TDP is 175W and the PSU has 324W on its 12v rail).

Watched some video's, the 650ti will play bf3 on ultra. It's much cheaper aswell, would the MSI 650ti boost be good or not? Haven't really used msi when it comes to GPU's.

Yes it's good but a 7850 or 7870 would perform better.

A 7850: http://www.ebuyer.com/454325-msi-r7850-2gb-gddr5-4800mhz-dvi-hdmi-mini-displayport-pci-graphics-card-r7850-2gd5-oc

Would that work "out-of-the-box" or would he still need a the molex to PCIe adapter?

Ok, decided that, no matter what, he's going to need to upgrade his PSU sooner or later. So, here is the items that i will recommend that he gets, http://www.ebuyer.com/lists/list/199207

That looks good and if he ever wants more performance in the future he could just get another 7850.

Yeah, he just told me, he'll probably get it later this year, so i told him to save money and he'll probably be able to afford the 7870.
