Hi i wanted to share this link with you guys after a lot of links was shut down (no wonder -.-) it's about that G-SYNC is a lie, you dont need the hardware that is applied in the monitors just all you need is driver and monitor that have Display Port 1.2. Here is a link for that https://www.kaldata....ayPo-97502.htmlI know it's on bulgarian language but i am sure you can translate it easy with google chrome or google translate, there was a video about that i watch and now they are removed -.- still think that's a lie? Isn't it strange that AMD just relised Free-sync for no money? with no exstra hardware? I want you guys to know that and tell me what do you think  :)

I suggest you watch the last WAN show, they talked about it in detail.

To summarize, GSync for mobile may have reduced functionality, but still allow basic use of controlled-refreshes.

So it isn't necessarily a lie.

The projects never end in my line of work.

its not really a lie its just not needed.

If it wasn't needed then AMD would've launched Freesync long ago. The module was needed and still does supposedly offer a few things -- for example, it stops the screen from blacking out at very low FPS.

even if you don't need the G-Sync module, most monitors won't store the frame that is currently displayed in the case that it needed to refresh it when the GPU doesn't have a frame ready when the current frame is about to fade.

it could probably be done through software alone, but it wouldn't always be smooth which would kinda defeat the purpose.

i understand that its just at that time g sync module was needed, now it isnt simple as that

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/301774-g-sync-on-desktop-without-monitor-module/

It won't magically work on any DP 1.2 monitor, as has been proven and tested over and over already. You can read more about how FreeSync works in the link in my sig and why it (and mobile G-SYNC) won't work on just any monitor. In desktop monitors the display panel is controlled by the display scaler, the GPU doesn't have any direct control. In order to refresh at a variable frequency the display scaler has to support that mode. It doesn't necessarily have to be a G-SYNC module but it needs a controller that is programmed to have these capabilities. You can't just make any monitor operate in variable refresh mode with nothing but a hacked driver when it doesn't that mode to begin with.

As mentioned in the PCPper article, the guy originally spreading these rumors obtained alpha-grade drivers made by NVIDIA in an accidental leak, which enabled mobile G-SYNC on some very specific laptops. Then instead of telling people what actually happened he repackaged the driver and tried to convince everyone he hacked some drivers himself to enable G-SYNC on any monitor and was some kind of hero to the community for exposing NVIDIA's evil DRM scheme that he made up... It was all total bs, and the reason he took down his videos and articles was because PCPer published their article about it and now everyone knows he's full of shit.
