i just ordered a high end gaming pc after deciding on a 4790k build over an x99 (had a dilemma but decided that it is not the extra money) with a msi gtx 970 gaming 4g but with the latest news on the memory issue and i really don't know if it is future proof even though im gaming on 1080p as i think that future games max out will use more than 3.5 GB VRAM and shuttering will start. im looking to be able to play games with good settings for as many years as i can.

the build i ordered

COOLERMASTER RL-N24M-24PK-R1 WC NEPTON 240MM 119.90 €

PHANTEKS ENTHOO PRO BLACK WINDOW 115.93 €

INTEL CORE I7-4790K 4.00GHZ LGA1150 - BOX 358.90 €

MSI GEFORCE GTX970 GAMING 4G 4GB GDDR5 PCI-E RETAIL 409.00 €

SAMSUNG MZ-75E250B/EU 850 EVO SERIES 250GB 2.5 SSD SATA3 134.90 €

WESTERN DIGITAL WD10EZEX 1TB CAVIAR BLUE SATA3 55.90 €

SAMSUNG DVD-RW SH-224DB/BEBE SATA BLACK BULK 15.50 €

KINGSTON HX318C10FBK2/16 16GB (2X8GB) DDR3 1866MHZ HYPERX FURY BLACK SERIES DUAL CHANNEL KIT 152.82 €

EVGA SUPERNOVA 750 G2 POWER SUPPLY 750W 129.90 €

ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO/ACU RETAIL ASSASSINS CREED UNITY BUNDLE 229.00 €

TOTAL 1721.75 €

so my question is should keep on with this build or should i buy cpeaper parts (mb,cooling ,ram, etc.) and go with a gtx 980

gtx 980 build

PHANTEKS ENTHOO PRO BLACK WINDOW 115.93 €

INTEL CORE I7-4790K 4.00GHZ LGA1150 - BOX 358.90 €

ASROCK Z97X KILLER RETAIL 147.9 €

EVGA SUPERNOVA 750 G2 POWER SUPPLY 750W 129.90 €

TOTAL 1730.33
without cpu cooling i will add that when i have the money

Also there's the amd's solution

ASUS RADEON R9 290X R9290X-DC2OC-4GD5 4GB GDDR5 PCI-E 440 €

ASUS RADEON R9 290 R9290-DC2OC-4GD5 4GB GDDR5 PCI-E 309 €

im really confused on what shouid i get.
stick with my current build.? buy a r9 290x for 40 more.? buy an r9 290 for 100 less.? buy a gtx 980 and cut prices from the other parts for about 10 more .? or build an whole new system with parts from the gtx 980 built and an amd r9 290 which will result at a much a cheaper solution.?

I would get the 290x if the 970 memory thing bothers you. The price difference between the 980 and 290x is huge but the performance isn't.

i ve noticed that you own a gtx 970 . how's your experience with it.? it's not the the memory thing bothers me but i simply just to want to get the most perfomance i can for the money.

I love this card, there hasn't been I game I couldn't max out with great FPS yet. Just look at Linus' 970 video, he has some benchmarks at the end.
