Fan Cable Reduction

Go to solution Solved by Archangel1994,

Is there a suggestion you have for a different set of fans? (Also) Thank you thats what i was thinking but i wanted to make sure that i would not run into reductions issues from the wiring of the extensions(like you do with normal wires)

1. Tell him not to do push pull, it's 100% redundant

2. Gentle Typhoons, Phobya Eloops, NF-F12's, Noiseblocker PK2/3

Hey Everyone,

So i am in the planning stage of a build for a friend, and ive come across an issue ive never had before. My friend wants to put a total of 26 Corsair SP 120 High performance fans in his build,

2x480mm

1x360mm

1x240mm

All in push pull,

So my question is this how many Y-Cables can you use to reduce the size down to a reasonable fan controller and not  run into power issues?

1. 26 fans is stupid

2. Push/pull is pointless

3. Tell him to not get SP120's

4. A fan controller often has 15-30W per channel so you need to look how much each fan uses to determine the mount of fans you can put on 1 channel

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

Motherboard headers usually have enough current to power 3 Fans without problem. If you're hooking them up to a fan controller you'll have to look at the specs of that controller and the specs of the fans.

Core i7 4820K  |  NH-D14 | Rampage IV Extreme | Asus R9 280X DC2T | 8GB G.Skill TridentX | 120GB Samsung 840 | NZXT H440  |  Be quiet! Dark Power Pro 10 650W

Thanks yeah, he is not wanting to use the onboard fan positions, ill try and convince him to cut down the number so we can make this a little easier.

We Need MOAR FANS !!!
