Hey there!

Got a nice little bonus from work over Christmas so I've been thinking of picking myself up a laptop for when I'm travelling or staying away from home. I've never really been interested in researching and keeping up with laptop hardware, so I'm not really sure what I'm looking for.

It will be used for general stuff like movie watching, streams etc but I'd also like to do some gaming on it, nothing heavy I'll save that for when I'm home and at my desktop. All I  can really see myself playing on the laptop is League of legends, WoW, Hearthstone and maybe some counter strike, so nothing heavy.

A couple of things that I'd like the laptop to include are an SSD and a fairly nice sized screen. I've been looking into the ASUS RoG G550JK, but i'm not sure if that's what I need. Oh, and I'm also a bit of a sucker when it comes to looks so if it's nice looking that would be a great bonus!

Any and all recommendations will be appreciated!

Price is the primary thing you want to list, and also the country buying from.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

What's the screen size you'd like? 13", 15" or 17"?

No. Get that APU crap outta here.

I'm sure a 15" would be just fine, but if the 17" isn't too much more, bigger the better right?

How's this look? http://mysn.co.uk/shop/xmg-a504.html(take the i7 and 8GB RAM)

What's wrong with the APU and GPU in dual GPU mode? I bought my laptop primarily for work and some gaming so I don't see why the dude should spend so much when he's only going to be doing light gaming and watching videos -__- which this laptop is perfect for or any of the £350 - £500 HP laptops.

If you try using a machine like what I linked for him, you'd never go back to that APU. Especially since he wants to play WoW, which, being a MMO, is pretty CPU loving. Also, it's in his budget.

Also, you recommended a HP. No.

Ahh I didn't see WoW, I seen hearthstone though so...the I7 will definitely be much better than the APU for that. This one I have isn't bad quality for a HP, it's Aluminium and fibre-glass construction and runs very cool and quiet and performs decent for work and some AAA gaming :P

As a rule I don't look at HP, Dell, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Lenovo, or Acer the minute somebody mentions a game above DoTA 2 or LoL in requirements. From midrange and up I strive for the midrange clevos or MSIs. The clevos just usually have a bit better offering than most MSIs though, but anyone who wants good speakers etc I have to show them the MSI way.

How much do their laptops retail for though? I purchased mine for £499 since that was the budget I had :/

Depends on where you're buying from. If you're under about 1000 though going for a midrange/entry-level-gaming class laptop is probably a bad thing to do. For $500 I guess what you got was good though.
