These are the final specs for the rig I've built(minus the GPU at the moment).

CPU- I7 4790K

Motherboard- ASUS Z97 Sabertooth Mark 2

RAM- 8 GB(2x4) 1600mhz XPG v2

GPU- EVGA GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0

PSU- Corsair CX 750M

CPU cooler-Corsair H60

Storage- Sandisk Ultra Plus 256 GB SSD

Case- Corsair Obsidian 450D

That's all the new stuff. I'm using it with an ASUS VN 247 1080P monitor.

I know the 980 is overkill for that monitor. Eventually I plan to replace it with a 1440p one, or maybe even 4k if 4k Monitors come down in price and I have money to SLI the 980. Im sort of an AMD guy but the r9 390/380x might not be out til friggin June.

I wound up spending a lot more than I planned, but in the end I only made a couple of compromises, everything else is pretty much either what I planned on or better(and more expensive) than what I planned. The CX 750M was one compromise and the H60 was another. I don't plan on OCing the 4790K since its plenty fast enough for gaming as is and OCing would yield little to no gains, so I don't really regret the H60.

It came out to a little over 1300 USD not counting the Monitor, which was originally 170 when I got it a year ago, so overall I think I did pretty damn good for the price. The only thing Id probably change is the PSU as its not exactly quiet, but I was in a hurry and that was what they had in stock and it has a decent reputation as long as you don't max it out. If I SLI the 980 down the road I might consider a different one.

It was my first complete build and was easy to put together. This is the 2.0 version because I briefly had a reference GTX 970 I returned for the 980. It cost me about 170 more but WTF, you only live once and I might not ever build another gaming PC from scratch again.

Ill post pics when I get the GTX 980 in.
